Abstract
Ecologically or Biologically Significant Marine Areas (EBSA) are regarded as priority areas with ecological properties within our ocean space and require special management of human activities. METHODS: EBSA methodology uses Systematic Conservation Planning as a spatial prioritisation tool that supports decision-making about actions (usually with limited resources) that optimise benefits for biodiversity at the least cost to society. The methodology is documented in MARISMA EBSA Workstream, 2020. Ecologically or Biologically Significant Marine Areas in the Benguela Current Large Marine Ecosystem: Descriptions, status assessment and management recommendations for new and revised EBSAs in Namibia, Technical Report.
